| Woodblock flooring (sometimes called Parquet) is a traditional solution for putting a wooden floor onto a hard surface like concrete. Wood is a great heat insulator, so it provides a warmer feel underfoot than a solid floor. The traditional pattern is herringbone with a two block border (as illustrated) but many other designs are possible. Woodblocks vary in size but are usually at least 15mm thick. Parquet floors are similar but only 10mm thick. Because of this, more interesting factory produced patterns and borders are available in parquet. |
